Home Recording Number 2 - Can't Say No

I'm afraid that when the mp3 is uploaded to divshare it loses a lot of quality!

Another little work in progress for you....

Hope you like it

Home Recording Number 1 - Thorn in my Side

This is a strange little song. It has been flying around my head since I finished making the album. I'm not sure I'll ever use it for anything but it's good practice for me to actually finish songs, I'm always starting things I don't get round to finishing. It's the only twee-ish song that I've written over the past few months. All the rest are quite dark/melancholy.

Excuse the vocals, I still have a terrible cold. And my home studio is still not together so it's recorded on the trusty but lo-fi 8-track.

Here's the full version:

And here's the stripped down version:

All constructive criticism is gratefully received. I want this to be an album for you.

Album Number 2

Album number 2 is turning out to be quite diverse. So far I have four or five songs, each one completely different from the last. It's quite a bit darker than the first and will be much more lo-fi in it's production, seeing that I will be recording it myself.

I'll be recording it at home which means no live drums, I don't think the neighbours would like that you see. It's all quite exciting, yet scary. I'll let you hear some bits and pieces soon.

Skyscrapers and Scots in Kong Hong

I can honestly say that Hong Kong is the most amazing place I've been to on my Theoretical Girl travels so far. Glorious weather, amazing architecture, history, a mad mix of different cultures and a hotel room with no fourth or seventh floor, the star movies channel (I hasten to add that this is not a naughty channel) and sausages with noodles for breakfast! All made even better by the fact that the promoters, Jane and Mike, were the loveliest people.

On stage at Rockschool

Lovely interviews in the hotel lobby

More lovely interviews

I'll be back in Asia next year......

2D TG

Mr Spacey

I was taken to see Inherit the Wind as a little birthday treat today at the beautiful 191-year old Old Vic theatre. Kevin Spacey has such amazing stage presence and comic timing and they do a pretty mean interval ice-cream, orange and mascarpone.

Hong Kong and Mr Choi

The amazing promoters of my upcoming gig in Hong Kong have been working away informing the people of Hong Kong about the show. They have made a life size, which admittedly is still pretty small, cardboard cut out me, who has been busking across the city. You can see a still from the video above. There I am with Mr Choi the doorman of the promoters building. What a legend he must be.

A video of my busking will be up on this blog soon.

Bizarre things are afoot

A very nice young lady sent me a myspace message informing me that she had just seen my face on a t-shirt in River Island.

I find this bizarre beyond words.
